RSA South East are delighted to support the Green Arts Oxfordshire Network initiative and invite Fellows to take part in their sessions at the Oxford-based Marmalade Festival, 11-14 April 2023.
This Spring, the RSA South East Local Area Grant scheme is supporting GAON to launch a new initiative: Culture Shift! A Vision for Greener Audience Travel working with RSA Fellow Kim Pickin, also member of GAON Advisory Board. Green Arts Oxfordshire Network (GAON) unites Oxfordshire’s artists and cultural organisations in their work to tackle the climate and ecological emergency.
To launch the initiative, they’re holding a free open session to explore our collective power to create that cultural shift towards greener audience travel in the city. Alongside this session, the RSA grant will support GAON to create a downloadable infographic that shows affordable, sustainable travel options based on the session, paying a student placement and local designer to collate outcomes. This will help local artists and arts organisations support the transition towards lower cost, lower carbon travel within Oxford, a city with some of the UK’s most and least privileged communities. In turn, this will help to make artists and arts organisations more financially resilient, and cultural participation more accessible.
This event is part of Marmalade Festival 2023, taking place across Oxford on 11- 14 April 2023. The Marmalade Festival is an open collaboration, led by the Old Fire Station, and various other individuals and organisations in Oxford, hosting various events, film screenings, and performances.
